Moussaka Recipe:

Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 1 hour Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Layer the potato slices in a greased baking dish. Add the meat mixture over the potatoes.
  5. In a saucepan, whisk flour and milk over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat, cool slightly, and whisk in the egg. Pour over the meat layer.
  6. (Optional) Sprinkle with cheese.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
